The only part of the set up I am really unhappy with is the top. But I am a 54"-56" chest and its not easy to find a good alternative that does not have green velco or modern German flag insignia in place. I want to join in, but also really want to show respect for the fellow players that have made real efforts to get the look "just right".
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I think you're being harsh , obesity is a self esteem issue .
Mind you perhaps he'd be better of on supersize/superskinny than trying ot run about with us .
